Emergency Assistance

For your safety, each suite is equipped with a Medic-Alert Call Bell System, located in both the bathroom and bedroom areas. This system will put you in immediate contact, 24 hours per day, with a member from the Health Care Team. Activation of the system is as simple as a pull on the cord. The Care Staff will ensure that your needs have been attended to immediately.

Emergency Services

The facility is staffed with 24 hr nursing care by PSW/RPN and UCPs.

Security

Our building is equipped with smoke and heat detectors, and a direct alarm hook-up to the Pembroke Fire Department. Fire alarm pull station boxes are located in the hallways and lobby.

Supples Landing has carefully developed a comprehensive fire safety plan in cooperation with the Pembroke Fire Department to ensure our resident’s safety.

Our building is staffed 24 hours a day with exterior perimeter doors locked at all times. Our front entrance is the only exception to this rule, which is monitored throughout the day and locked at 9:00pm each evening. A doorbell is conveniently located between the entrance doors for use after the doors are locked.

Smoking

Supples Landing is a smoke-free facility. All indoor areas are designated non-smoking.

Physician’s Visits

Where possible, residents are encouraged to retain their existing family physician to ensure continuity of care. We recommend that your confirm with your physician that he/she will make house calls in the event that you are unable to visit their office.

Respite Services

Respite Care is available for short-term stays for those requiring convalescent care following a hospital discharge. Accommodation is subject to availability.

Care and Services

Dietary Department

Flexible meal plans are available, including diet specific personal plans. Our dietary staff members will meet you with courtesy and respectwhen you join us at Supples Landing. The Dietary Manager will assist you in determining specific food requirements, explaining the menu procedure, and arranging seating in our formal dining room. Complimentary food tray service during illness (when approved by Director of Care).

Foot Care Services

A Foot Care Clinic, is available to all residents on a weekly basis. Our administration office will be more than happy to set up an appointment for you.

Mail Service

Mail is delivered Monday to Friday (except statutory holidays) to your personal mail box located in the lobby area of our facility.

Resident’s Council

To enhance the quality of services and programs provided by Supples Landing, a Resident’s Council has been established. This is an informally structured organization, representing all of the residents at Supples Landing, with the purpose of being a channel of communication relating needs, opinions and ideas between the Council and Management. Active participation is encouraged and family members are also invited to attend. There is no membership fee, and all residents are automatically accepted as members.

Transportation

For those residents who do not drive, the Pembroke Handi-Bus is a door-to-door service, provided in collaboration with the Friends of the Disabled Project and Supples Landing. The Handi-Bus is available for transportation to appointments, shopping etc. At least one day advance notice is required. An application must be filled out at the administration office or with your family physician to use this service.

Housekeeping Services

Our Housekeeping Supervisor meets with each resident upon admission to explain the schedule and procedures for housekeeping services. You will be asked to sign a consent form, giving our staff the permission to enter your suite in your absence.

Our housekeeping attendants will visit your suite on a weekly basis to provide a thorough cleaning including:

  • Vacuuming
  • Cleaning of kitchen sink and counter
  • Cleaning of the exterior of the fridge and stove
  • Bathroom, tub, sink and toilet
  • Mopping of bathroom and kitchen floors

Laundry Service

Supples Landing offers once weekly laundry service of bed linens and towels (excluding bath/floor mats, shower curtains, comforters and blankets) to all residents.

We are also happy to provide a personal laundry service in which your items will be picked up once per week, and returned to you, clean and folded, the same day.

Recreational Activities

They are organized by our activity coordinator. Organized events, art and many trips to local attractions keep our residents busy and socially active.

Library Service

Books are available in the activity room on a sign-out basis. Books are to be renewed bi-weekly.

Parking

Visitor parking is available at the front and to the rear of the building. A designated parking space equipped with a plug-in can be assigned to new residents who own vehicles. Residents are responsible for the maintenance of their own vehicles.
